Engineering Principles

How I Approach Software Engineering

Technology changes quickly, but good engineering principles remain constant. These ideas guide how I design software, collaborate with teams, and solve technical problems.

Build Reusable Systems

I prefer creating reusable components and shared abstractions instead of solving the same problem multiple times. Good software should become easier to extend as it grows.

Design for Maintainability

Readable code, clear architecture, and consistent patterns are priorities. Software should be easy for future developers—including myself—to understand and improve.

Optimize When It Matters

I enjoy identifying unnecessary renders, redundant API calls, and inefficient state updates to improve application responsiveness without sacrificing readability.

Work Closely Across Teams

Great software comes from collaboration. I work closely with backend engineers and QA teams to align APIs, reproduce issues, and deliver reliable releases.

Debug Methodically

Rather than guessing, I investigate problems systematically using browser developer tools, logging, network analysis, and incremental testing until the root cause is understood.

Keep Learning

Open source, enterprise software, and continuous learning help me improve as an engineer. Every project is an opportunity to learn a better way to solve problems.

Currently Working On

Always Learning. Always Building.

I enjoy solving real engineering problems while continuously improving my skills through enterprise software development, open-source contributions, and modern frontend technologies.

Clinical Research Platform

Building enterprise React applications that support oncology research through configurable electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs), reusable component architecture, and Spring Boot integrations.

Frontend Architecture

Improving reusable component design, metadata-driven UI rendering, state management, and application performance for enterprise-scale software.

Continuous Learning

Deepening my knowledge of modern React patterns, TypeScript, software architecture, and scalable frontend engineering practices.

Open Source

Continuing to contribute to the Linux and GNOME ecosystem while maintaining personal engineering projects and exploring new technologies.

Looking Ahead

My goal is to continue building enterprise software that solves meaningful problems while growing as a software engineer through collaboration, challenging projects, and continuous learning.
